Foldability is the studio of Kyla McCallum, a Scottish paper artist and set designer who has been creating origami for over 15 years and works between London and Munich. Kyla creates bespoke installations, set design, paper art and sculptures inspired by origami and geometry.
Kyla has become known for creating precision formed designs and installations which are visually unique, with a strong element of hand-craftsmanship. For large scale commissions, she collaborates with a diverse team of creatives including paper artists, engineers, art directors, photographers and fabricators, depending on the skills required for the project. Kyla also runs paper art and origami workshops for brands, organisations, universities and charities, sharing her passion for origami and paper art. She discovered her fascination with origami and geometry whilst studying in Cologne in 2007 and launched Foldability in 2013 after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art.
Kyla collects surplus paper from mills and printers that was destined for landfill to try and minimise the amount of new paper purchased for projects and reduce waste.
Previous clients include Valentino, Prada, Burberry, Gucci, John Lewis, H&M, ELLE Decoration, Ted Baker, Perrier Jouët, Little Greene, M&C Saatchi and Google.
