Set DesigN FOR Sotheby's

Foldability created a folding inspired window display for Sotheby's London showroom on New Bond Street. The design needed to look like paper but be able to withstand temperatures of up to 45 degrees over a 2 month period and not wilt or curl up in the heat. The solution found was to create a composite material using two layers of luxurious paper, a PVC base and brass supports hidden on the back. The other challenge was to suspend the pieces to appear as if they were hanging in mid air as it was not possible to attach from the top or bottom of the vitrine. A hanging system was used, hidden behind the pieces with supporting rods allowing the pieces to protrude forward from the back wall. Please find below images of the window and behind the scenes close ups of the set design making process.
